Marc Crane has been involved in numismatics since 1972 at the age of five. He has been a professional, full-time numismatist since 1988. Blanchard and Company (Metairie/ New Orleans) launched Marc’s national career in the rare coin industry, where he first worked as a buyer with Will Rossman under Mike Fuljenz. Marc later worked for 2 years with Joel Rettew, Sr. (Newport Beach) before moving on to begin Marc One in 1991. Since then, Marc has become an industry respected leader and has handled a wide variety of United States coin rarities including the Floyd T. Starr Specimen of the 1864 L Ribbon Proof Indian Cent, the unique Garrett Specimen 1863 Judd-349 Ten-Dollar gold pattern in gold and items like the wonderful Libertas Americana Medal in silver. Over the years the firm has expanded and now offers fine art.

As a PNG member, Marc is one of 350 world wide numismatists who make up the prestigious Professional Numismatists Guild. Marc is also certified as a PNG authorized bullion dealer of which there are fewer dealers. Ethics levels prevent most from even considering applying to the PNG.

Marc is also is affiliated with numerous national and regional numismatic associations including ICTA and NACA, and life memberships with the American Numismatic Association (the ANA was Congressionally Chartered in 1906), NSDR, FUN, and CSNS. He has and still contributes to Whiman’s important rare coin reference book A Guide Book of United States Coins (often referred to as the “Red Book.”) Marc is a contributing editor to Mint Error News Magazine which is published monthly by Mike Byers, the leading expert in numismatic errors. 

As a leader in transparency Marc publishes daily buy/sell prices complimentary for customers to view so they know what the most common items people tend to have are worth before buying or selling for an incorrect price.
